A quick heads-up about Brazilian spots

If you’re in Seattle craving Brazilian food, don’t expect giant feasts every day. A lot of these places do their best dishes on weekends or by special order, so call ahead or check social media before you go. Also, these restaurants tend to be on the smaller side and cozy, so planning for a weekday evening or an early weekend dinner can make a big difference.

For a solid neighborhood choice, check out International District for that classic churrasco feel, and swing by Capitol Hill if you want street snacks and small plates with a twist. And honestly, the best Brazilian food experience here usually comes with chatting with the owners or servers, they’re more than happy to recommend their favorite dishes or drinks if you ask nicely.

Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions about Brazilian food in Seattle? Here are some answers from a local who’s been there.

If you want churrasco that hits the spot, try that spot over in the International District called 'Churrascaria Rio' (not a big restaurant, more casual). Their skewers come with a char you just don’t find in most places here, and they’re generous with the picanha. Just make sure you go early, they often sell out.
Yeah, a couple of Brazilian places do feijoada on Saturdays or Sundays but it’s usually by special order or limited run. I’d call 'Sabor Brasileiro' near Capitol Hill to see if they have it that weekend , they’re pretty good about giving a heads-up if you ask.
You can, but it’s a bit hit or miss. The newer place on Capitol Hill makes great pastéis with a really crispy shell and authentic fillings. Coxinha shows up more rarely but worth tracking down if you’re craving a savory snack that’s not just sandwiches or burgers.
Most spots have caipirinhas, which are pretty popular here, but guaraná soda is rarer and often depends on what they import that week. If you spot it, grab one , it’s an oddly sweet, bubbly treat that pairs perfectly with spicy food.
Almost all the good Brazilian joints here are family-owned or small independent places. Seattle doesn’t really have any big Brazilian chains, so you’re getting food made with care and recipes that often come straight from Brazil.
